Have you ever seen this reaction?
It is famously known as the 'Elephants Toothpaste' experiment. It's very easy to do. All you need is some hydrogen peroxide (purchased from the chemist) and dry yeastw, which you add to 60 cm3 of warm water. Mix the two (add a little food colouring, if you like) and the above will happen.
The idea of this experiment is excellent to demonstrate enzyme activity and rates of reaction. It is very simple to do this at home and it will greatly improve your ability to answer an array of different GCSE science exam questions across the biology and chemistry disciplines.
